This Baked Apple Crumble features a warm and spiced apple filling topped with a buttery crumb topping, creating the perfect comforting dessert.
Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup packed brown sugar (light or dark)
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
8 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
2 1/2 lb granny smith apples (peeled
cored
and chopped)
1/2 cup granulated sugar or brown sugar
1 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp cornstarch or all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon for the crumb topping. Stir in the melted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In another bowl, mix the chopped apples with granulated sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch (or flour), salt, and cinnamon. Toss until the apples are well coated.
- Transfer the apple mixture to a greased baking dish and spread it evenly. Sprinkle the crumb topping over the apples.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!
Notes
Serve with vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgence. Make sure to adjust the sugar according to the tartness of the apples used.
