Description

50g Granulated Sugar

2 ¼ tsp active dried yeast

2 large eggs

565g All-Purpose Flour

100g Unsalted Butter

850g Apple Pie Filling

125g Pecan Halves

190g Unsalted Butter

at room temperature

280g Brown Sugar

2 Tbsp plus 1 tsp ground cinnamon

⅛ tsp Kosher salt

115g Unsalted Butter

at room temperature

225g Cream Cheese

at room temperature

250g Powdered Sugar

sifted

12 Tbsp Heavy Whipping Cream

½ tsp kosher salt


Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine lukewarm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  • Add eggs, salt, and flour to the mixture, followed by the butter. Knead until a smooth dough forms.
  • Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • For the apple filling, melt butter in a pan, add diced apples, sugar, cinnamon, salt, and cook until apples are slightly softened. Stir in cornstarch and cook until thickened. Set aside to cool.
  • Once dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle. Spread the brown sugar cinnamon filling over the surface.
  • Evenly distribute the apple filling and toasted pecans over the dough, then roll it tightly into a log.
  • Slice the log into rolls and place in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  • For the frosting, beat together room temperature butter and cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, cream, and salt until desired consistency is reached.
  • Once rolls are baked, let them cool slightly before drizzling with cream cheese frosting. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For an extra touch, add more cinnamon to the frosting or sprinkle additional pecans on top of the rolls before serving.
